Have you ever wanted a special moment to go on forever? To preserve the sweetness of it all?

Although time marches on, Confituras keeps the goodness of  past seasons around a little longer.

Literally translated, Confituras means “to preserve”. And that’s just what school nurse-turned-jam-maker Stephanie McClenny does, too: she preserves the past (using ripe fruit and other wholesome ingredients) in small glass jars with tight fitting lids and charming rustic labels.

Stephanie, who lives in Austin, Texas, writes about food and life on her blog, The Cosmic Cowgirl. Less now than before starting her jam-making business. You’ll cut her some slack once you’ve tasted the fruits of her labor.

She takes care to use the best locally sourced seasonal fruits available. This is fruit that Texas growers harvest only when fully ripe, not almost ripe like fruit that comes from out of state or out of the country and  has to be gassed into submission after an arduous ride in the back of a truck.

Stephanie thoughtfully transforms these ripe natural wonders into small batch artisanal works of art that speak of the past while making the present more delicious.

So jam up and jelly tight, and stroll with me down memory lane until we’re outta sight, and in the kitchen with Stephanie McClenny of Confituras.

  1. BEST preserves ever! I love the strawberry balsamic black pepper served at the TX Hill Country Food and Wine Fest.
