Peggy Neu, Monday CampaignsMar 30th, 2012 | By Cecilia | Category: guest bio, the show
Peggy Neu impressed at 2011′s inaugural SXSW Eco Conference in Austin, Texas, where she told attendees about the Monday Campaigns, and in particular, Meatless Mondays. As the name sounds, it is where people are urged to give up meat on one day a week for personal and environmental health.
I had a chance to talk with her about the campaign for our show.
This is from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where Peggy Neu is a course director:
Peggy Neu is President of The Monday Campaigns, a non-profit public health organization associated with The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Heath and Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications.
The organization’s goal is to end chronic preventable diseases by using Monday as the day to start and sustain healthy behaviors. Meatless Monday, the first Monday campaign launched in 2003, has become a true social movement with programs spreading in school and corporate cafeterias, restaurants, cities and countries.
Prior to the Monday Campaigns, Peggy was an EVP with Grey Worldwide, one of the world’s largest communications companies, working with clients such as P&G, Sprint, Aetna, Kaiser Permanente and the Department of Health and Human Services.
