Jenni Field, owner and head pastry chef at Pastry Chef Online, hadn’t planned to start a movement, but within moments of suggesting The Peoplehood of the Traveling Swirly Pan in April 2013 on her Facebook page and blog, she had a following.

This multi-year project has seen a Nordic Ware, cast aluminum Heritage Bundt Swirl pan travel throughout North America and into the kitchens of home bakers who joined The Peoplehood; they have and will bake a cake (or two…) in the pan before sending it to the next Peoplehood member on the list. Jenni says they are, “Building Community on Cake at a Time.”

The pan and project is wrapping up. So far, Dorothy and Toto have visited 62 bakersĀ  in 16 states and Japan. Jenni says they still have another 24 US/CA bakers waiting.

Over the next week’s and months, the pan and journal will bounce up into Canada as she heads east and then eventually back down the Atlantic seaboard and back home to North Carolina.
